Incorporating Traditional Ecological Knowledge into Geoscience Education

CMOP is working in collaboration with Oregon Health & Science University, Portland State University, Hydaburg School District, and the Hydaburg Cooperative Association to implement a place-based Geoscience education program in the Alaska Native (Haida) community of Hydaburg, located in Southeast Alaska. This program seeks to incorporate traditional ecological and cultural knowledge with geoscience education addressing the needs of K-12 students, teachers, and the community. Hydaburg is poised to nurture a new generation of scientists and natural resource managers who can guide the community to a sustainable future.
