Week 6

Time is racing by--in some ways, it's almost a good thing I came back from the cruise because I have so much work to do here in the lab before I leave at the end of the summer.

About a week ago, Peter had ordered me a special kit for my cDNA synthesis (the process involves taking the enriched RNA I have processed and using an enzyme to reverse transcribe it back in to DNA). The cDNA will then be transformed into E. coli to form clone libraries. However, when my kit arrived, it unexpectedly called for P32, a radioactive compound. This was definitely not in the game plan but, after a little scrambling, we figured out a way around it, Peter ordered me some extra reagents, and I'll be able to start my synthesis next week.
