week 8.

12 August 16

Gas vesicle nepholometer measurements were taken daily. On Monday we had lunch with Jon Waterhouse where he talked about the importance of  working with indigenous people. On Tuesday we traveled to Ilwako to obtain more samples and check the field equipment. Wednesday through Thursday we spiked cells with BMAA, cystiene, 2-oxyglutarate, metforamin, and guanylurea and compared them to the control. On Friday, we traveled to Astoria, where we met with scientists from MERTS. We also went to the maritime museum. The weeks are flying by. Two of our interns finished this week!
