WEEK FIVE - Phytoplankton

So, this week I actually got my phytoplankton to move! Which isn't all that exciting I bet, but I've never used MATLAB before this summer so getting the animation to work was pretty exciting.

I also met with Karen, my senior mentor, this week to update her on my progress and get her feedback. This week, I'll be adding some more information to the program and hopefully by next week or the one after, I should be able to run some experiments.

Also, I finally made it into Forest Park this week. It's so much bigger than any "city park" I've ever been in before. I did a couple short hikes there this week with Katie and definitely plan on going there once or twice a week for the rest of the summer.

Thursday, we went into Portland and caught the Wailers at the Crystal Ballroom, which was a great time. The weekend was pretty uneventful, in a good way. I spent some time reading by the pool (too much time maybe from how red I was yesterday) and just relaxing at the apartment.

Next weekend, I'm going to Horning's Hideout for the Northwest String Summit, which I'm really looking forward to! Updates on that next week...

Here's a picture of a really cool tree we saw in Forest Park:
