Week 3

This week was very...long lol. Well first we had the visit to the primate center. it was very interesting to hear about the variety of research projects that were being performed this summer. i was a little disappointed because i wanted to see the monkeys but i understand why we couldn't. Then thursday we had the NSF site visit. it was interesting to see the 'administrative side' of CMOP and some of the things that come with it. The site visit also provided us with exposure to some of the NSF representatives, although the two I talked to really just conversated among themselves. But i didnt mind because they fed us lasagna!!!

My program is coming along well. This week Bill and I set up a user interface and a simple query. We uploaded the program online and it worked properly. Although its not completely finished feel free to try it out: http://www.testupload0608.appspot.com.

On Sunday, i went on my first hike. It was a 7mile hike through mt. hood national forest. The hike was very tiring...it was about 90 degrees that day and it was very humid in the mountains. The uphill part of the path was grueling but it was worth it once we got to the waterfall ie halfway point. There was a lot of snow on the path even though it was so hot. this was really weird to me but all the kept me cool. For it to be my first hike i think i did very well and i had lots of fun!!!
