29 May 2009 – Complete CTD casts and dock in Newport.

The weather remained good overnight so we completed a short CTD survey of the Strawberry Hill (SH) line (SH-100, SH-b, SH-d, SH-e). All along the 100m isobath, bottom waters were hypoxic (<2 mg/l). We found similar hypoxic conditions along the SH line at 100 to 200 m depth, and near-anoxia (<0.5 mg/l) at 700 m depth at station SH-e. At 0230 we completed the cast at SH-e and steamed to Newport with the goal of crossing the bar at 1030.
