Zuber is a microbiologist with the Center for Coastal Margin Observation & Prediction and a professor in the Division of Environmental and Biomolecular Systems at Oregon Health & Science University. He won the Editor's award for his numerous and timely reviews that set the standard for quality, fairness and promptness. Since 2009, he has reviewed 47 manuscripts with an average turn-around time of 12 days.

"The Journal of Bacteriology is especially proud of reviewers like Peter," says Thomas Silhavy, JB editor in chief. "His contributions provided authors with the best possible peer review."

The Editor's award was named for Jack Kenney, a beloved JB production editor for 13 years. Kenney was held in very high esteem by editors, authors, and reviewers alike. He died in 2010, and JB changed the name of the Outstanding Service award to honor him.

Zuber received a plaque and free page charges on his next JB paper.
