Video Conference
CMOP video conference capabilities revolve around Polycom endpoints and a Polycom video bridge.
Endpoints consist of dedicated video conference hardware such as the Polycom VSX7000, VSX5000 and VSX3000 series video codecs. Software based endpoints include Polycom PVX, Microsoft Netmeeting and for the Mac user Xmeeting.
Point to point video conferences are often best served by having the endpoints directly call each other via their assigned IP addresses.
Where the IP of one or the other endpoint is unknown the CMOP video bridge can be used as a commoin known IP.
Multipoint video conferences are defined as conferences with more than 2 participants.
CMOP provides multipoint conference capabilities through its Polycom MCG100+ video bridge. Adhoc conferences are allowed through the creation of predefined "Meeting Rooms".
Meeting rooms may be open to any endpoint or they may have access restrictions such as passwords. Some Meeting rooms are preassigned to individuals, others are designated by meeting function and lastly others are of a general use.
Meeting rooms are given names that equate to the "extension number" which identifies the meeting room to the bridge.
Access to a meeting room is specified by the bridges IP address followed by 2 pound signs and then the extension number.
For example:
vtc.stccmop.org##9999
This connects to meeting room 9999.
The concept of a meeting room is directly analogous to a physical meeting room. If you are the first to enter a meeting room there is not much to see. As others enter the meeting room you will be alerted to their presents with a tone and a display of their video and audio.
PC Content can be displayed using PPCIP (People+Content IP) software.
