OGI Campus communications

From: Ed Thompson, dean and OHSU vice-president

To the OGI Campus Community:

Later today you'll be receiving an email from Dr. Kohler announcing the launch of the OHSU-led National Science Foundation Science and Technology Center for Coastal Margin Observation & Prediction (CMOP). The launch event will be held tomorrow, August 29, at OMSI, looking across the Willamette River towards the future site of CMOP and OGI on OHSU's South Waterfront Schnitzer Campus.

This Center is a significant award for OGI, OHSU, and the region. It will help create a healthier world, contribute to a vibrant regional economy, and ensure a dynamic role for OGI's scientists and engineers in the OHSU community.

I especially want to celebrate the vision and accomplishments of Dr. Antonio Baptista and the tremendous team of individuals who helped make this award a reality. CMOP will ultimately transform our understanding of coastal margins, but it has already begun to transform OGI. For more about the Center, see its new website: www.stccmop.org.

Congratulations, and we all look forward to seeing the exciting work that will come out of CMOP in the years to come.

Sincerely,

Ed Thompson, Ph.D.
