Hindcast Sample Data

The purpose of this page is to offer sample data for interoperability testing. An interface to select and download data in various formats will be deployed soon.

The following link is a netCDF file containing (salt, temp, u, v, elev) every fifteen minutes for June 22nd, 2004 near the mouth of the Columbia River (see below). Each value is computed as the mean of (valid) data within 5 meters of the surface.

Near-Surface Average Physical Variables for June 22, 2004 at the Mouth of the Columbia River Estuary

Here is another, larger dataset representing an entire week for a slightly larger area:

Near-Surface Average Physical Variables for June 22 -29, 2004 at the Mouth of the Columbia River Estuary, at 15 minute timesteps

The metadata is converging on the CF conventions

Geometry is in Cartesian x,y coordinates, from the nav27:3601 projection. We plan to include lat, lon in the future.

Missing values are marked with -99, which correspond to drying.

The selected region corresponds to the lightly shaded area in the following image:

The final interface will allow selection of region (via an interactive map), depth range, time range, model version, and aggregation function. Additional formats will gradually become available as we test them.
