April 30-May 1: Sequencing the Seas - Accessing Unknown Microbial Function, London, U.K. A discussion meeting at the Royal Society. (Poster presentation deadline: April 1, 2007) Note from Jack Barth: I wanted to bring the following meeting to the attention of interested CMOP investigators. Please email/post as appropriate. The line-up of speakers is pretty impressive. This might be a way to really jump start our understanding of what's known about the microbial community in the ocean.

1-6: 32nd Congress of IAHR: Harmonizing the Demands of Art and Nature in Hydraulics, Venice, Italy (Paper submission deadline: December 15, 2006)

2-13: IUGG XXIV General Assembly, Perugia, Italy (Abstract submission page is now open, and the deadline is January 31, 2007. Postal submission deadline is earlier, January 15th.) The tsunami session is a joint session under IASPEI (JSS02). It is tentatively scheduled on Wednesday, July 11th. A related session (JSS03: Early-Warning Systems) is scheduled on July 12th.
