Tsunami Animations On KGW TV

In the NewsKGW NewsChannel 8 presented tsunami animations from the Center for Coastal Margin Observation & Prediction (CMOP) during a broadcast on April 23.

The animations were presented in the context of a story on the U.S. Geological Survey's new earthquake hazard maps and their impact on Oregon.

CMOP's animations show the impact of tsunamis generated by earthquakes in the Cascadia Subduction Zone, and are based on the research of Dr. Yinglong Zhang and animation work by Paul Turner.
