It may look like a simple, gray box but inside is an Environmental Sample Processor - a portable, robotic laboratory - that Dr. Holly Simon (center) and the CMOP team will use to detect and analyze microorganisms in the Columbia River estuary. This will help scientists monitor and predict such things as algal blooms and low oxygen levels in the water.
