Call for Papers

IMUM 2015—the 14th International workshop on Multi-scale (Un)-structured mesh numerical Modeling for coastal, shelf, and global ocean dynamics—will be held in Portland, Oregon, from September 28th to 30th, 2015.

The first workshop in this series was held in Louvain-la-Neuve in 2002.  Since then, the IMUM annual workshops have become a premier forum to report on, and advance, the state-of-the-art of unstructured-mesh modeling of the ocean, at multiple scales and in its interactions with freshwater and/or the atmosphere. The workshops have an informal and interactive style, and seek to balance high quality presentations with discussions on leading edge development, benchmarking and application of models.

Presentations (oral or poster formats) may address any aspect of unstructured-mesh modeling of coastal, shelf, and global systems. In 2015, we especially encourage submissions addressing next-generation multi-scale models and/or lessons learned from rigorous benchmarks. However, we welcome a broad scope of presentations, ranging from unstructured-mesh model applications and inter-comparison to advances in finite volume or finite element discretization, high-order schemes, pre-conditioners, solvers, distributed computing, mesh generators, adaptive modeling, data assimilation, coupling across physical, sediment and biogeochemical models, etc. We also welcome contributions providing objective comparisons between structured and unstructured-mesh models.
