Week 3: 7/6/09 - 7/9/09

This week we were given the task to write a report about what we have accomplish so far in our project and what our recommendations are for the final product.

On Friday we were not here at CMOP because ASE took all of us interns to OSU for the Midsummer Conference. The conference was only one day instead of two like previous years and we were able to choose the workshops we were going to attend. I chose Our Brain - Journey into Inner Space, Do I Really Want to Be a Physician? Opportunities in Biomedical Engineering, and Where the Wild Things Are- A Career as a Wildlife Biologist. I found the first two interesting but not the third one, maybe it was the presentation that was not very interesting or interactive. In the first presentation we got to see a human brain  that was of a 51 year-old woman who had died in a car accident. In the second presentation we dissected a pig's heart and learned about defibrillators and pacemakers that can be implanted. It was quite interesting but I also learned that I don't want to be a Biomedical engineer. There was also a Tsunami simulation workshop but unfortunately I didn't get to see it but I heard that is was fun and interesting.

Overall it was a good experience to be at the OSU campus and to see the other interns and hear about their projects and how their summer is going.
