Week four: Just keep counting

This week was a short one and mostly involved cell counts. I managed to reach my 15 counts a day mark, so far my record is 17 though that might go down since the slides I am counting are becoming more populated, and I may have to start diluting the samples soon in order to count the cells more accurately. I have not yet decided if I want to increase my goal for now I think it’s best to keep it on the safe side and stay at 15 until I see how it goes for the next week. Other than cell counts I also did my weekly culture transfers, I also calibrated a pH meter and made some buffer storage solution for it. An interesting thing that happened in the lab this week was receiving a crash course to electronics from my mentor. I had never considered learning about it but as I watched her work on a machine she made herself for her experiments I couldn’t help but feel a spark of interest, and while I didn’t fully understand everything she said I am now looking forward to learning more about it this fall when I go into physics. That’s all for this week and hopefully next week will also be productive with my cell counts.
