WEEK SEVEN - MATLAB

It seems that I've been getting the hang of MATLAB a little bit this past week, so I actually made decent progress. I added a growth function to the model and also allowed for the diatoms to reproduce. (The diatoms reproducing is pretty generic at this point, but they aren't the main focus of the model. If I had more than ten weeks to work on this model, this would be one of the things that I'd like to make more realistic.) So that leaves the zooplankton reproduction function and then the model will be done!

I also showed Jay some of the parking-lot filled beauty that is Beaverton during his last two days visiting. We saw the Dark Knight which was pretty good and checked out a local sushi place. Later in the week, Vanessa took some of the interns to the Hollywood Theater to see a movie called Flow: For Love of Water. It was really eye-opening. I guess you could compare it to An Inconvenient Truth, but I was quite a bit more impacted by this one. I would definitely recommend checking it out for a new perspective on things...

Friday, we went to Hawthorne to see a concert (so-so) and Sunday we headed to the Waterfront to check out the Brewer's Fest. That was a really fun time. I still have one of my tokens, so I guess I'll have to come back for the one next year! (I'll see if I can steal some pictures from any of these things to post up on this blog. I've been pretty lax about the picture taking lately.)
