Week 1 6/16/08-6/20/08

So far, things have been interesting; I wouldn’t quite say fun, but a learning experience. We went to the CMOP website, downloaded CSV targets for Saturn 01 and Saturn 03, we did download data from some other stations, but our focus is on Saturn. We imported them into Excel and did correlation analysis and made graphs. We also tried to filter the data in Excel, but were not very successful.

One of the more exciting things that we did was upload time series of Saturn 01 and Saturn 03 during the time periods of the two Wecoma Cruises. We had time series of all 8 variables: turbidity, chlorophyll, nitrate, discharge, etc. Then we analyzed the graphs and came up with some cool hypotheses.

On Thursday, we gave a presentation to Antonio, our senior mentor, along with Nirzwan and Grant, our frontline mentors and Shayna.

Some interesting (to me...ha) facts about myself: I am going to be a senior (’09 baby). In the fall, I play soccer, in the spring I do track & field (Triple Jump and the 800) and I do martial arts all year round. I got my black belt in May. It was pretty spectacular. In school, I’m in leadership and am ASB (All Student Body) Secretary. I mostly just like to chill, do sports, play badminton in my back yard, and read. I have a pretty good life going; the downside is that I can never get enough sleep. Ugh. So, I’m usually always tired…and hungry. Another one of my favorite things to do is eat and I do it a lot…kind of like a cow grazing all day…
