Week 4: Finishing with TNT

This week was a short week because of the Fourth of July! I hope everyone had a great holiday. This week I finished up completely with the second round of TNT trials, we did two trials because the data on the first trials was slightly off. TNT has a much shorter half-life in iron porphyrin than NB does, so irregularities in the method, or preparation of the samples has a much bigger effect on the resulting data. However, I am getting better and more accurate at the experimentation processes. I am also improving my skills on the HPLC, so I am better equipped to assess whether irregularities on the spectrum data are my fault or a small glitch in the machine. Basically, everything is getting more and more accurate as time goes on!

This week I ran one DNAN trial, and next week I am going to analyze that data so I can get started on analysis of the reduction of DNAN  in iron porphryin and cysteine. This week I also made a new batch of phosphate buffer.

This is a graph of the data I got from trials 1 and 2 of TNT, and the KFeP value obtained from them.
