Decisions, Decisions

The bow thruster problem is beyond the ability of anyone on the ship to solve without the assistance of the systems experts from Seattle. And so, they have been called in. At present, it is uncertain when they will arrive.

Assuming we are able to get it fixed and can set sail by 1000 on Friday, July 30, we have a plan to accomplish enough to make most folks on board happy. Fingers are crossed for this plan and such happiness.

Here's the plan: 1) We would only occupy sites along the NH and CR lines where samples in addition standard CTD data are collected. 2) We would preserve our 2 days of work in the north channel for AUV ops. 3) But, in order for this plan to work, it will require that we borrow one day of time from Leg 2. We would begin the transition of personnel for Leg1 to Leg2 at 2030 on August 2, not August 1 as originally scheduled.

Other than that, all is well on the western front. Stay tuned for more on this breaking reality show.
