20 September Research Cruise

We worked through the night to complete the WB line with CTDs at WB-9 and WB-5. We then moved north to the Grays Harbor (GH) line and did CTDs at GH-3, GH-6, and GH-10 before collecting water for primary production and extended sampling at GH-16. Addition CTD water sampling stations were GH-21, GH-26, and GH-36, with additional CTDs obtained at GH-31 and GH-41.

The completion of CTDs along the GH line permitted us to shift our science focus toward evaluation of salinity gradients around the river plume. We steamed back to CR-20 and deployed the ADCP boom, necessitating a reduction in ship's speed to 4-5 knots. We surveyed with the ADCP inshore along the CR line to CR-7, at which point we turned NNW to transit the plume during the night, enroute to the beginning of a feature tracking exercise scheduled for 21 September.
