Week 6: The More the Merrier

This week involved a lot of grinding through experiments, one by one. There was a lot to do, and not a lot of variety to it. However, I figure that the more experiments I get done now, the more time I'll have at the end to wrap everything up. I worked on testing the effect of the length of the probe and iron oxide reaction on absorbance. Making new lepidocrocite (an iron oxide I work with) and lots of standard curves (carried out in the cuvettes pictured below), and fine-tuned the protocol for probe testing, I was able to set the stage for a number of probe and iron oxide experiments to be carried out over the next four weeks.

Next week should involve a lot of tests of probe and iron oxide. Testing four probes with two concentrations of iron oxide each day, I should be able to quickly produce a lot of the results that I’ve been waiting for! It will be data-heavy week, so I'll have to be careful to keep the data well organized.
